we ended up canceling a week of our January/February tour. we cancelled the part that went through Texas, due to shows falling through. so we came home for about a week and a half. we left on the 12th for a night that we never expected to be so crazy...
we drove 24 hours straight to Missouri, stopping in Knoxville for an hour out of the van. We arrived the 13th at noon in Belton, MO for our first show. At 7pm we unload the trailer in the midst of a treacherous hailstorm and play one of the worst sets we've ever played. Overall it was just sloppy and there were numerous technical difficulties. We pack up the trailer again and drive two hours to our second show of the night, which is in Columbia, MO. We arrive at 11:30 PM and go on at Midnight. We had a nice chat in the van to boost band morale, and thankfully we salvaged the night by playing one of our best shows so far.
we stayed with some awesome guys in Columbia, MO for the night and had pasta and had Lee cooked us breakfast in the morning. they were some of the nicest guys we've met on the road. we left there heading for Keokuk, IA. we played a pretty fun show in a Mall and Alex hooked us up with a place to stay and some food and beverages. we woke up early and drove to Des Moines, IA where were completely spoiled once more. we played an awesome venue with some awesome guys, and were able to stay at Taryn's parents house. it was SUPER comfortable and we got treated to breakfast and an oil change thanks to Paul, Tammy, and Douglas.
we then drove to where we are now. Alex's mom's house in Minneapolis. it is so awesome here. we drove to the Mall Of America yesterday, which is ridiculously large. roller coasters galore. We moseyed around there for a while and then trekked back here to the house for dinner. today we woke up and unloaded the trailer into the garage. we solidified two songs and went walking on the frozen pond out back. the sun was out, but my hands and toes were instantly numb.
i smell dinner upstairs, and i'm thinking that we are getting ridiculously spoiled.
Friday we meet up with Saints Never Surrender in Aurora, IL to start our next tour.
on which we stop at 3 of the above towns once more. so it should be awesome.
plans for tomorrow are more writing and then going to a Minnesota Wild (hockey) game tomorrow night.
should be eventful! i'll try and keep this thing updated.
