Minneapolis Update

we went to see the Minnesota Wild game the other night. and i decided that watching hockey live is SUPER intense. it was really awesome. here are some horrible pics from my phone.

we were forced to cancel our first two shows of the tour with Saints Never Surrender due to some financial things, but we are starting the tour on the 23rd in Buffalo, MN. we have been writing for the past two days and have stumbled upon 3 new songs, all of which i think are really solid.

while sitting in Chipotle for lunch, it started snowing yesterday and didn't stop until after we got back at 10 from seeing He's Just Not That Into You, which was pretty neat.

i woke up this morning and it was still snowing a bit and it looks like about 6-7 inches of show outside the basement window.
here's a picture i took yesterday of our van and trailer covered in snow, which is now a first.

Minneapolis

2nd day off here in Minnesota. And I officially suck at updating this thing.

we ended up canceling a week of our January/February tour. we cancelled the part that went through Texas, due to shows falling through. so we came home for about a week and a half. we left on the 12th for a night that we never expected to be so crazy...

we drove 24 hours straight to Missouri, stopping in Knoxville for an hour out of the van. We arrived the 13th at noon in Belton, MO for our first show. At 7pm we unload the trailer in the midst of a treacherous hailstorm and play one of the worst sets we've ever played. Overall it was just sloppy and there were numerous technical difficulties. We pack up the trailer again and drive two hours to our second show of the night, which is in Columbia, MO. We arrive at 11:30 PM and go on at Midnight. We had a nice chat in the van to boost band morale, and thankfully we salvaged the night by playing one of our best shows so far.

we stayed with some awesome guys in Columbia, MO for the night and had pasta and had Lee cooked us breakfast in the morning. they were some of the nicest guys we've met on the road. we left there heading for Keokuk, IA. we played a pretty fun show in a Mall and Alex hooked us up with a place to stay and some food and beverages. we woke up early and drove to Des Moines, IA where were completely spoiled once more. we played an awesome venue with some awesome guys, and were able to stay at Taryn's parents house. it was SUPER comfortable and we got treated to breakfast and an oil change thanks to Paul, Tammy, and Douglas.

we then drove to where we are now. Alex's mom's house in Minneapolis. it is so awesome here. we drove to the Mall Of America yesterday, which is ridiculously large. roller coasters galore. We moseyed around there for a while and then trekked back here to the house for dinner. today we woke up and unloaded the trailer into the garage. we solidified two songs and went walking on the frozen pond out back. the sun was out, but my hands and toes were instantly numb.

i smell dinner upstairs, and i'm thinking that we are getting ridiculously spoiled.
Friday we meet up with Saints Never Surrender in Aurora, IL to start our next tour.
on which we stop at 3 of the above towns once more. so it should be awesome.
plans for tomorrow are more writing and then going to a Minnesota Wild (hockey) game tomorrow night.
should be eventful! i'll try and keep this thing updated.

the first third of the tour is over.

we have been home for the day and leave tomorrow morning to the south and midwest.
we will be out on the road until March 10th.
then we will come home for seven and a half weeks to write the second half of our new record.

tentatively, touring all of May and out to record our album in June. and on tour for the rest of the summer.

it's been going pretty well. working out systems on how to get things done.
we have had some rough spots financially, but things are going to work out.
thanks to everyone who has helped support us financially and in prayer. it means a lot.

greattt things are in the works. i'm gonna post more of what's going on in here.
i've been really lacking. i'll write when we are in the van. i wonder if i can pull this site up on my phone?
i guess we will find out.

be good.

MRSA

my monroes got infected and i am recovering from a MRSA attack in the face.
but i seem to be doing a lot better. that has soaked up my time these past couple days.
an ER trip at 3:30am lead to the discovery of this ridiculous infection.

we leave for our super small tour on Saturday.
we played in Manning on Friday. it was pretty cool.

God is working on me.
God is making me trust him.
and developing me into a gracious person.
God is sending me a wake up call.

i'm alive and well.

life lately.

a lot of things have been happening.

last night (11/23) we played at Music Farm in Charleston.
It was a really fun and good show. Got to meet a lot of people and it was cool playing the new stuff there for the first time.

friday (11/21) we played at The Hazmat here in Myrtle Beach.

we have our EP back and mastered.
our first plans of getting it pressed and replicated ourselves were quickly put to a halt when we realized we had no money to do so. so now we are going to sit on it and shop it to labels in hopes for a label to release it for us, which would be nice.

we have a lot of shows coming up, a small tour, and a huge one in Jan/Feb.
we are stoked and things are getting done.

we found an awesome van here in Myrtle and are hoping to purchase it before our December tour. piling in Alex's suburban just isn't too comfy, and it gives me a headache for some weird reason.

i had the worst headache all of yesterday and through the night. i think it was because i didn't have any sweet tea.

i was literally exhausted by the time our set was over. I could hardly lift anything with my left arm, due to me squeezing the mic the entire set. (a habit i must get rid of.)

so the EP is up on MySpace. all of the songs for a little while.

no more studio. in va beach.

we are back from the studio. and i have taken a couple days to come up to Virginia to hang out with Taryn.
the studio was good. boring at times, but mostly really good. Tyler and his family were awesome and very inviting.

Tyler is now mixing the tracks and then we send them off to Portland to get mastered. After that, we just have to get some money together for packaging and replicating the CD. then we will have the EP in our hands. it's a bit of a long process.

i'll write a bit more details later on. about to go see a movie!

reposting this.

"If this bloody counterfeit liberation is American...
I am proud to be Un-American.

If depleted uranium is American...
I am proud to be Un-American.

If US sanctions are American...
I am proud to be Un-American.

If the imposed 'peace' of Pax Americana is American...
I am proud to be Un-American.

But if grace, humility, and nonviolence are American...
I am proud to be American.

If sharing to create a safe, sustainable world is American...
I am proud to be American.

If loving our enemies is American...
I am proud to be American.

Regardless, I would die for the people of New York, but I will not kill for them... my kingdom is not of this world.

I would die for the people of Baghdad, but I will not kill for them... my kingdom is not of this world.

I will pledge an allegiance deeper than nationalism, to my God and to my family... my kingdom is not of this world. I will use my life to shout "Another world is possible"... for my kingdom is from another place. "My kingdom is not this world. If it were, my servants would fight... but now my kingdom is from another place" (Jesus; John 18:36)"
